Small Groups are where meaningful relationships are formed.

We offer groups for people in all stages of life. From child to senior adult, we want to help you become a helpful disciple right where you are!

  • 8:00am // Room C229

    As a group, they study the New Testament in a way that equips them to disciple others. Together, they pray and share the gospel with those who are lost. They also seek to build a culture of victorious Christian living with one another.

    The Opskars are a family of four—Taylor and Kyle were married in 2018 and have two children. They have a heart for reaching the nations, love sports, and desire to live all of life for Jesus.

    Our group is taught by Robert and Tonia Kellogg as well as David and Teresa Gardner. Each of us have been invested in IBC for over two decades. Our group started out of a desire to connect people from various generations. This is our continued prayer as we lead this class.

    Our group is made up of people from various age groups and backgrounds. With Bible Studies for Life, we study God’s Word with the goal to follow him where we live, work, and play.

    Lynn Turner has been a member at IBC since 1961 and has taught since 2007. Her prayer for the Special Needs Class is that they would come together and study God’s Word with joy.

    This is a unique group of unique people that have a great love for Jesus. They love Him and love learning more about Him.

    Jeremy Johnson has been a member at IBC since 2017 and has been a small group leader since 2021. His prayer for his group is that they develop lifelong relationships as they do life together and that they would dive deep into what Scripture says.

    This is a diverse group who loves to help each other through life. Their focus is to know God more personally and discuss how knowing him changes our lives. They love to talk through the Bible with special attention on how Christians before us understood and applied the Bible.

    Rick McCaslin has been a member of IBC since 2021. This group started very recently, and his prayer for the group is that they are able to grow closer to Christ through sharing their life experiences in relationship to the sermon.

    This is a small group primarily made up of married couples with children. In it you will discuss the previous week’s sermon using guided questions, explaining the application, and giving examples of how Christ impacts our lives on a daily basis.

    Bryan and his family live in Chandler and have three children ranging in age from 17 to 10. He works as a home builder. As a family, they enjoy church involvement, cattle ranching, sports, fishing, hunting, and music.

    Bryan is part of a group designed for parents who are actively navigating the challenges of raising teenagers. The group provides a space for parents to connect with one another, while also helping them build stronger relationships with their own students through shared lessons. It emphasizes honesty and transparency, allowing members to openly discuss both the joys and the struggles that come with discipling teenagers.

    Jeff and Kathy Madison have been members at IBC since 2015 and have served as small group leaders since 2017. Their prayer for their small group is that parents would grow in their Bible Study and knowledge so they can further disciple their teenagers.

    This class is for Parents of Teenagers and studies the same material the student ministry does so parents are better equipped to further disciple their teenagers.

    Linda McElroy has been a member at IBC since 1995 and began serving as a small group leader a few years after. Her prayer for her small group is that they have a comfortable gathering of women who want to grow closer to the Lord through chosen Bible Studies.

    This is an eclectic collection of women (married, divorced, widowed, any age) who desire to grow in God’s direction for our life. The group will choose studies to follow, encourage group discussions, and support each other in prayer.

    Greg Gothard has served as both a football coach at OBU and a small group leader at IBC for many years. His prayer for his group is that as they meet together, they would encourage each other to be obedient to what God asks of them and that they would honor Christ in their marriages and in their families.

    This small group is primarily made up of married couples. They connect as couples and families in fellowship and community. They also grow as disciples in the Lord. They use the “Explore the Bible” curriculum.

    Lynn Gray has been a small group leader and a deacon at IBC. He and his family have attended IBC for over a decade. Her prayer for the group is that they would grow in their knowledge of who God is and seek to follow Him faithfully in every situation.

    This group welcomes all ages and all backgrounds. This group hopes to help people know, follow, and become like Jesus. This group uses the “Explore the Bible” curriculum.

    This group’s leaders are Larry Cribbs and Jim Antosh. Both have been members at IBC and have served as small group leaders for many years. Their prayer is that people of all ages would come together to study God’s word in this class.

    This is a group of adults who have a desire to study God’s Word together. Each week they read Scripture, pray together, fellowship, and have great discussions. All ages are welcome!

    Greg Wall has been a small group leader at IBC for a very long time. His prayer for the group is that they would all continually strive to be more like Jesus every day and that they would be obedient to all He asks of us.

    The desire of this group is to be a place where healthy community is built and true spiritual growth is experienced. This group encourages everyone to engage with the Word as they collectively seek to become more like Jesus.

    Embree Hulsey has been a member at IBC since 1951 and has served as a small group leader since 2013. His prayer for his small group is that they would share about their faith and their knowledge of Scripture with those around them.

    This group consists of men 70 years of age and older. This is a diverse group of men with extensive knowledge of the Lord and His Word.

    Larry Walker has been a member at IBC since 2010 and began serving as a small group leader in 2015. His prayer for his small group is that members of the group advance spiritually as individuals with Christ and realize that the unique attributes of the group can contribute to the larger body of Christ at IBC.

    This is a middle to senior group of men who study the Bible, pray, and grow spiritually together. They use a quarterly, which allows members to read, pray, and study prior to class.

    Bobbie Decker has been a member at IBC since 2019 and began serving as a small group leader soon after. Her prayer for her small group is that as they dig deeper and will all become more comfortable sharing Christ‘s love with others.

    This group is made up of senior adult women that love God and love others. Their curriculum is “Explore the Bible” and that’s what they do! Come explore the Bible!

    Pamela Dickens has been a member at IBC since 1983. Her prayer for her group is that members continue to grow in the Lord and will continue to serve others.

    This is a group of women from various backgrounds in life that are mature Christians (60+). This group is seeking to know and serve our Lord. This is a close group that meets outside the church to fellowship. All are welcome!

    Glenda Vallandingham has been a member of IBC since 2021, following her husband’s retirement from ministry. Her prayer for her small group is that they would continue to grow deeper in their spiritual lives and reflect Jesus in all they do.

    The group is made up of women who love God and care deeply for one another. They seek to support each other in both spiritual and physical needs, building a strong sense of community and encouragement. The group also studies together using the “Explore the Bible” curriculum.

    Ida Smith has been a member of IBC since 2019 and began serving as a small group leader shortly after joining.

    She leads a group of senior adult women who love God and love others. Her prayer for the group is that as they continue to dig deeper into God’s Word, they will grow more comfortable sharing the love of Christ with others.

    The group uses the “Explore the Bible” curriculum as the foundation for their study and enjoys putting it into practice together. They are a fun, active group that values spending time with one another and encourages others to come explore the Bible with them.

    Bobby Burnett has been a member at IBC since 2007 and a small group leader since 2008. His prayer for his small group is that God grants them health, protection, and a deep desire to learn God’s Word.

    This group is made up of senior adults 60-90 years of age. This group consists of some couples and several singles. Most of the group members have been believers for many years and serve in various ways.

    Chris Jones has been at IBC since 1995. During his time he has taught small groups for high school students, singles, young adults, men's ministry and children's ministry. For the last ten years he has been teaching middle school guys. He enjoys reading, playing board games with his son and watching OU football. He has three kids, Shelby, Darcy and Cody.

    In this class you will learn the foundations of Godly manhood. Learning what it means to be a man who follows God in a society that has all but turned it's back on us. As you discuss each topic, you will do so in an environment where everyone participates and no one dominates, not even the teacher.

    Cara Brunet and Elise Whitney are both in their 20s with a deep love for the Lord and a desire to advance the Gospel. Their prayer for their small group is that they would reach singles looking for community and that they would develop a welcoming environment where others can become firmly rooted in Christ and grounded in biblical community.

    This group is a young adult group for singles ranging around 22-30 years old. The focus is on growing in our faith and in biblical community.

    Lance Bloomer has taught a young adult small group for several years. His prayer for the group is that the young adults at IBC would learn to steward all of their lives well to make a Kingdom Impact in the world around them.

    This is a group which strives to develop deeper relationships with the Lord and with each other. They take seriously the study of the Bible to make it applicable to our lives as we grow to know Him better.

    Tyler has grown up at IBC his entire life and has recently felt called to start a new group. He and his wife have a lively, injury-prone toddler and a newborn baby girl.

    They are looking for a community to share life with, encourage one another to grow deeper in their spiritual walks, and have fun together. Tyler’s hope is that the Lord will call people to the group and, in time, call others to branch out and start new groups of their own.

    This group’s leaders are Mark and Kellie Young, Aaron and Maddie Urton, and Craig and Hope Whitney. They are passionate about helping young couples navigate what it looks like as they begin their marriage or are nearing that stage of life.

    This group is meant to serve newly (or nearly) married young adults. There are many group leaders that guide the group with Scripture and life experience. The desire is to help young adults connect with the church while applying the Bible to every aspect of our lives.

    Jill Anderson is passionate about helping women discover who God is, and her prayer for her group is that women would fall in love with the God of the Bible and learn to trust in Him with everything.

    This class is for women both young and middle adult women, many with children. They have a desire to reach their neighbors with the Gospel and foster community in their neighborhoods.

    Doug Walker has served as a small group leader for over 15 years. His prayer for the group is that their shared faith would bridge generations, allowing them to grow together and learn from one another in their walks with Christ. The group spans multiple generations, creating opportunities to learn from each other’s life experiences as they follow God. They study Scripture together and strive to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate and contribute.

  • Sundays // 6:00pm // North Shawnee Area

    This group seeks to provide a welcoming space for adults in their late 30s and 40s who are launching teens into high school. The members are eager to study God’s Word together and bring glory to Him in the process. Their prayer is to remain faithful to Scripture and to live out the Great Commandment within a loving community.

    The group is led by the Battershell and Garbutt families.

    Michael and Cristen Garbutt have been members of IBC for seven and sixteen years, respectively, and are deeply grateful for how the church has embodied the hands and feet of Jesus in their lives. Nathan and McKenzie Battershell have been members for fifteen years and share the same love and appreciation for IBC and the ways it has ministered to their family over the years.

  • Mondays // 6:00pm // Dale/Bethel Area

    This group is made up of families from the Dale and Bethel areas who are committed to growing in their relationship with God and learning to love others more deeply. They enjoy sharing meals, studying God’s Word, playing games, and spending time in fellowship together on Monday evenings.

    The group is led by Shawn Marcum.

    Formed in 2023 after recognizing a need for community in the Dale area, the group’s prayer is that its members would faithfully follow God’s leading, share the Gospel, and live out the hope they have in Jesus. They seek to be continually conformed to the image of Christ and to steward their lives for the sake of the Gospel.

  • 6:00pm // Sunday Nights // C223

    Trent and Erin Guleserian lead this group, having been involved in it for over a decade before stepping into leadership. Their prayer for the group is that its members would grow together in community as believers and deepen their understanding of who God is.

    Their desire is to help individuals understand how God’s Word applies to every area of their lives. Through weekly prayer and Bible Study as well as occasional fellowship, they desire to give adults a place to glorify God as followers of Jesus who also help others follow Him.

  • Mondays // 6:30pm // C223

    Jeremy and Becky have been members at IBC since 2024, and their home group launched in February of this year. Their prayer for the group is that it would grow both in number and in Spirit, and that everyone who enters their home would feel welcomed. The group is made up of young adults, many with young children, who meet in the Timbers neighborhood. They share a desire to reach their neighbors with the Gospel and to foster genuine community in their neighborhood.

  • Wednesday Night // Room C223 // 6:30pm

    This class is taught by Drew Daily, an 11-year member of IBC who serves as the facilitator of the Wednesday evening men’s group and as a deacon. Drew accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior shortly after his 10th birthday. His service within the Church focuses on supporting the men’s ministry; in his profession as a wildland firefighter, he protects lives and livelihoods; and at home, he shepherds his family alongside his wife of 27 years.

    The Men’s Group is focused on building accountability both to and for each other.   They tackle difficult topics and questions occurring today and collectively apply Biblical truth and relevance in our own lives. This group of men is comprised of new believers to men deep in their walk with Christ, and men ages 20 to very experienced that are committed to growing in their relationship with Christ.
